our story

Hope for Life was born out of a collaboration and friendship between four Rwandan and American women in 2009 who desperately wanted to see children move off the streets through Rwandan leadership and holistic interventions.

2010 - 2017

In 2010, Hope for Life Ministry became a registered nongovernmental organization in Rwanda, and in 2017, Hope for Life became a 501(c)3 nonprofit in the US.

2023 - Present

In 2023, Hope for Life became the primary NGO referral partner for the Rwandan government.

In 2023:

  • 397 individuals impacted with community-based rehabilitation services (265 direct & 132 indirect beneficiaries).
  • 60 homeless youth left street life and reconnected with families.

  • 98 caregivers empowered themselves through various workshops on parenting.

  • 87 youth were successfully reintegrated into their district school for the academic year 2023-2024 through HFL support. They received educational support in the form of school uniforms and school meal fees.

  • 55 community leaders were trained on:

    • child protection and case management for homeless youth,

    • basics of community-based counseling, and

    • providing psychological first aid to homeless youth and their families.
